OUR STORY
Lonely Hearts Cycling Club was founded in 2018 when a small group of friends suffered simultaneous heart breaks and turned to bikes to fill the void. The club was small but spirited and slowly grew.
In 2019 the club had a small race contingent who heavily recruited in advance of the 2020 season. As aspirations for the race team grew, COVID-19 and associated closures and shutdowns had other plans for the life and the racing season.
Despite this the team and club grew exponentially and put in long miles and training sessions. With racing finally back on the 2021 calendar, a motivated squad saw an extremely successful year with a team victory in the CRCA B field Series and a 1st and 3rd place rider finishes in the Individual CRCA series.
Always hungry for more, the team began work with elite racer and performance coach, Tom Gibbons, to further build upon its ever improving technique and fitness. Out of that relationship, Lonely Hearts Racing partnered with Automatic | Abus Racing in 2022 to become its official development team and landing spot for pipeline talent in New York and beyond.
OUR VISION
Cycling has many barriers, whether it’s financially, equipment, or navigating all of the requirements to sign up for your first race. Automatic LonelyHearts looks to bring new riders into the sport, and develop each rider by providing support, guidance, coaching, and race mentorship.
